Animoto launched out of beta and Celebrated it’s first anniversary on Tuesday, August 26th 2008. Over the last year, Animoto has come a long way developing it’s MTV style slideshow technology. Animoto has developed many new features since I last wrote about their MP4 download feature back in December of last year:

• 3/08 - Export directly to YouTube
• 6/08 - DVD Quality Videos via Download or a mailed Disc

This is a quick update to my previous article on fraudulent anti-virus.

If you happened to get infected with one of these programs, I have found a new scanner that will actually get rid of it for you.  Now…  I typically scan with Symantec AV Corp, AdAware, and Spybot…  Although, none of these were able to get rid of the program entirely.  Well…  Thanks to a topic I found over at Bleeping Computer, I was able to remove Antivirus 2009 from a few infected computers using Malwarebytes.  This new scanner (well, it’s new to me at least) will remove several of the rogue antivirus variants as well as other spyware & adware objects that my other scanners missed.  I think I will be adding Malwarebytes to my personal arsenal from now on.  Oh, one other thing, I only needed the FREE version to get rid of the infections!

Over the last year or so, I am running into more and more computers that have been infected with rogue anti-virus software. Now spreading from hundreds of different websites based in various foreign countries, these fraudulant anti-virus programs are starting to take over. (more…)

Animoto has finally come out with their download feature! You can now download your Animoto videos to your own computer in the .MP4 (H.264 QuickTime) format and you are free to use them wherever you want. I have been waiting for Animoto to announce this feature ever since I started playing around with their new-age slideshow technology back in September. It really is amazing, you simply upload any number of photos and pick a song… Animoto will then start developing your custom video slideshow for you and then send you an email when the video is done processing. The video effects and transitions are top-notch and you never get the same results twice! Also, with this new download feature, you are able to take your video and upload it to other various video sharing websites like YouTube. Or, you can just watch it on your computer, iPhone, etc… to show off to family and friends.

Nice work Animoto. Keep the new features coming!

Google’s local business information service launched back in April 2007 and it has come a long way.  With millions of callers now served, 1-800-GOOG-411 has become a popular speed dial on most cell phones and could surpass the traditional 411 services provided by your phone company that usually adds charges to your bill.  (more…)
