Trulia Background Info
The following is some background info on Trulia that I have compiled. Over the last few years, Trulia has become a very popular national housing search website. Due to some outstanding SEO work, Trulia ranks on the first page of Google for just about any township when I search for real estate.
Trulia, Inc. (www.trulia.com),
a U.S. residential real estate search engine, has revolutionized
online home search by offering home buyers the best place
to start their real estate search. Consumers can quickly and
easily access information on homes and review local real estate
guides and agent-buyer discussions to help them make better
decisions in the home-buying process. (more…)
Domain Notice Scam
Yet another scam is making it’s way around, this one is targeting domain name owners…
Today I received a domain notice in the postal mail marked “URGENT- OPEN IMMEDIATELY” with a return address of Processing Center, PO Box 4668 #82011, New York, NY 10163-4668. This letter was NOT from the company that I registered any domain names with although it implies just that. This is a scam and I want to warn anyone else out there that may be fooled by it. If you own your own website name, or “Domain Name”, you may get this or a similar notice sent to you also. (more…)

Rogue Anti-Virus: UPDATE
This is a quick update to my previous article on fraudulent anti-virus.
If you happened to get infected with one of these programs, I have found a new scanner that will actually get rid of it for you. Now… I typically scan with Symantec AV Corp, AdAware, and Spybot… Although, none of these were able to get rid of the program entirely. Well… Thanks to a topic I found over at Bleeping Computer, I was able to remove Antivirus 2009 from a few infected computers using Malwarebytes. This new scanner (well, it’s new to me at least) will remove several of the rogue antivirus variants as well as other spyware & adware objects that my other scanners missed. I think I will be adding Malwarebytes to my personal arsenal from now on. Oh, one other thing, I only needed the FREE version to get rid of the infections!
Rogue Anti-Virus is Taking Over
Over the last year or so, I am running into more and more computers that have been infected with rogue anti-virus software. Now spreading from hundreds of different websites based in various foreign countries, these fraudulant anti-virus programs are starting to take over. (more…)
