Animoto Downloads
Animoto has finally come out with their download feature! You can now download your Animoto videos to your own computer in the .MP4 (H.264 QuickTime) format and you are free to use them wherever you want. I have been waiting for Animoto to announce this feature ever since I started playing around with their new-age slideshow technology back in September. It really is amazing, you simply upload any number of photos and pick a song… Animoto will then start developing your custom video slideshow for you and then send you an email when the video is done processing. The video effects and transitions are top-notch and you never get the same results twice! Also, with this new download feature, you are able to take your video and upload it to other various video sharing websites like YouTube. Or, you can just watch it on your computer, iPhone, etc… to show off to family and friends.
Nice work Animoto. Keep the new features coming!
Google’s FREE 411 Service
Google’s local business information service launched back in April 2007 and it has come a long way. With millions of callers now served, 1-800-GOOG-411 has become a popular speed dial on most cell phones and could surpass the traditional 411 services provided by your phone company that usually adds charges to your bill. (more…)
New Vista Printer Drivers
In case you haven’t already heard, I wanted to let you all know that HP has finally come out with some printer drivers that were long overdue. As for the HP LaserJet 1000 series, this brings Vista printing support to a total of four models now (1015, 1018, 1020, and the 1022). Still waiting on the other half of them to come out… But hey, it’s better than nothing! (more…)
Google Flight Status
Just in time for the holidays, Google has launched a new service through their search engine… Flight status information right from within the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). Google gets this data on all current flights from FlightStats.com and enables you to view the information when you search for a specific airline and flight number using a regular old Google search. To see it in action, click here and look at the top result of the search for “American Airlines 123″. When you click on the resulting link, you are brought to this page detailing all information about the flight.Â
Although, you dont even need to click on the results link to simply find out if the flight is on time or not. Google displays that information, along with the scheduled date, departure time, estimated arrivall time, origin location, and the destination city all right from within the search page itself. As usual, nice touch Google!
Printing with Vista
Windows Vista is the latest version of the Windows family to hit the shelves. It’s been out for nearly a year now, but there are still a few issues completing common tasks such as setting up a printer. Surprisingly, there are still a large number of printers that are not “officially” supported by their manufacturers to run on Windows Vista. This walkthrough will guide you step-by-step on how to setup one of these tricky network printer installs that even the manufacturers say shouldn’t work…
